CATCH YOSEMITE'S LIGHT in WATERCOLOR
With Steve Curl....April 11th, 2015 in Yosemite Valley
Friends
I greet you from Yosemite
Artist Steve Curl creates beautiful watercolor paintings.. His style of watercolor painting is amazing.
Steve has been teaching a Watercolor Workshop as a visiting instructor for the Yosemite Art Center every Spring... since 2008.
Steve writes, "Watercolor behaves just like nature - fresh, spontaneous, and elemental in its simplicity...a joyful portable medium..."
Steve catches the beauty of light on his inspired...and inspirational watercolor paintings...some of which are painted on location.
View his work..Yosemite Mists, View of May Lake, Twilight Glow at Olmsted Point...and more...by visiting www.stevecurl.com
To help prepare for the workshop...
Art...making of things that have form or beauty.....creativity
Artistic....sensitive to beauty watercolor...a pigment mixed with water to make a paint....to make a picture with pigments....coloring matter...color...the property of reflecting light of a particular wavelength: the colors of the spectrum are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet...
The beauty of the light....brightness, illumination
"The weather pure gold....white cirrus flects and pencilings around
the horizons..." John Muir
"And after ten years spent in the heart of it, rejoicing and
wondering, bathing in its glorious floods of light, seeing the
sunbursts of morning among the icy peaks, the noonday radiance on the
trees and rocks and snow, the flush of alpenglow, and a thousand
dashing waterfalls with their marvelous abundance of irised spray, it
still seems to me above all others the Range of Light." John Muir
In The Mountains of California, Muir writes,"Pursuing my lonely way
down the valley, I turned again and again to gaze on the glorious
picture, throwing up my arms to enclose it as in a frame. ....and I
could not help wishing that I might carry colors and brushes with me
on my travels, and learn to paint. In the mean time I had to be
content with photographs on my mind and sketches in my notebooks."
John Muir was an artist with words. He painted what he saw with
inspired words. Imagine if he had learned to paint with
watercolors!!!
