A mini-retreat at Tunnel View

A mini-retreat at Tunnel View is given to us this day.  We take a short drive to Tunnel View;  our eyes see a mist enshrouding the mountains.  After reading the interpretive sign, we realize that the storm is retreating. We feel as if we are on a retreat.

Yosemite is a quiet and secluded place in which we can rest and relax.  Our mountain retreat in Yosemite West is a wonderful cabin.  Yosemite is a wonderful refuge, haven, sanctuary, hideaway, and escape.  In fact, these are the names given to some of the Scenic Wonders’ vacation cabins!

Our trip to Yosemite gives us a period of retreat from the world: seclusion, withdrawal, retirement, solitude, isolation, sanctuary.  Even a bishop gets away on his annual retreat…a period of seclusion for the purposes of prayer and meditation.

During our spiritual retreat, our minds are filled with thoughts of quietness and love. Tunnel View speaks of the beauty of the forest and of the mountains.  Soft trumpets seem to appear in the clouds signaling that there is no raging wind.
