I greet you from Yosemite

These incomparable mountains of Yosemite are very welcoming. Take a hike!

There are about 800 miles of trail within the Park. These many hikes are described in various guide books. There are many easy trails from which to choose. Easy trails are mostly flat!

The West End of the Yosemite Valley Loop Trail allows you to spend time with El Capitan while enjoying an easy hike.

El Capitan soars directly overhead. Its impressive North American wall is a patch of darker- colored mineral in the granite that is shaped like the continent of North America.

El Capitan is so close by that you can see, with binoculars, rock climbers inching their way up the 7,569 foot monolith’s granite face.

You may have to hop some rocks to cross Ribbon Creek early in the spring! After this crossing, look up and see Ribbon Fall, which flows over the cliff just west of El Capitan. The route soon crosses the Old Big Old Flat Road; to stay on the trail just cross the road. If you choose to stay on the road, you will begin to climb closer toward Ribbon Fall. You may enjoy this short hike along the old road in order to enjoy fantastic views…especially the one of El Capitan!
