Sunny Yosemite Skiing With High Hopes For Snow

Yosemite National Park offers some of the most unique skiing in the country. After all, the Badger Pass Ski Area is one of the few full-scale operations of its kind in a national park. Skiers get to experience the sublime Sierra mountains and forests at their most transcendent: nestled in snowdrifts and bearded with icicles. It's not just the downhill options at Badger Pass, or the cross-country routes to Glacier Point, the Mariposa Grove, or Crane Flat. Yosemite and the rest of the Sierra Nevada receive bountiful snow at higher elevations courtesy of the close proximity of the moisture factor we call the Pacific Ocean. That same maritime influence, however, also keeps our high country notably milder--and Yosemite skiing that much more comfortable--than comparable elevations of the Rockies and other interior ranges.
